 Born:

February 5, 1850, in Ontario, Canada.
Family History: He was the son of William Cowan and Priscilla Fink. David Cowan is a native of the Dominion of Canada, having been born in Norfolk County, province of Ontario.
Achievements:
  • Conducted a merchandise business in the village of Box Elder, Montana called D. Cowan & Son, founded in 1889. It was a well equipped establishment which derives its support from an extended territory tributary to the village.
  • Mr. Cowan was the founder of Box Elder, Montana.
Family: In Norfolk county, Ontario, Canada, on November 27, 1872, Mr. Cowan wedded Miss Jane McKim, who was born in the same country in 1848. They had five children, William , who is a capable young business man and is associated with his father as a member of the mercantile firm of D. Cowan & Co.; Minnie is the wife of Albert Thompson, who is engaged  in the lively business in Glasgow, Valley County, Montana; and Grace, who is at the parental home; two children are deceased. The family are prominently identified with the social life of the community and their friend are to found throughout the county.
Occupation: Mr. Cowan was known as one of the extensive farmers, stockgrowers of Choteau County, as a representative, and as a progressive businessman of the thriving village of Box Elder, Montana. Mr. Cowan was well worth the high esteem in which he is held in the community as a man among men. 
Death: Mr. Cowan died in 1925.
